Fan Art from the very talented Jane Andrews

September 10, 2018

Isn’t this beautiful? I really can’t get over it.  Ms. Jane Andrews was so kind and so generous and took the time to send me a copy of her interpretation of Raul and White Wolf. I love it.

Julia’s White Wolf

Look what showed up in my inbox a few weeks ago. I wanted to wait and share this on the first week of school, as a reminder of the talent of the young people I write for and the ones I get to spend my day with in the classroom. I’m not sure of the age of the artist–the message that accompanied the drawing was written with the same poise and confidence.  I hope Julia is working on a book of her own. I will be happy to call myself her reader one day.

Kindness. Gratitude. All the colors of the rainbow. We need it. Here’s some.

Look at this beautiful photo by Tiffany Matthies, artist and teacher extraordinaire. I am just now delving into the thank you notes these lovely third graders sent me last week.  I am taking my time. I don’t want to rush through them. They are like little sunshine bonbons.  Here’s the first one.  I’ll post more in the coming days.  The bright pictures and kind, gracious words of these young people put a smile on my face and I hope they will for you too. We need it now, don’t we?

BTW : I have spent years (and I mean years) talking to myself in the car in a British accent so this is immensely gratifying.

I had so much fun a few weeks ago when I dropped in on my friend Tiffany’s third grade class at Evergreen Primary. First I got a lot of cheers, then I got to autograph a bunch of papers, then I got to see the most amazing artwork, and finally, I got to read the next chapter in the book to them. It was Where Raul Finds the Key To His Questions, But the Answers are All Wrong.

And that’s when I got to put on my Best British Accent and play Ms. Tern, who is, if you never knew it, my alter-ego.

It was a wonderful way to spend an hour and I am so lucky to have...

Good To Eat? by Rafe

I am so grateful that a young illustrator named Rafe shared his drawing of Bobo and Raul on the beach, looking at Vincent’s bike helmet.  Thank you Rafe, you really made my day!
